In 1972, after fifteen years in the air compressor industry, James McCloy commenced the operation of Compressed Air Parts Company in Cleveland, OH. Initially the purpose was to sell the Osha Safety Check Valve, which Compressed Air Parts designed for construction type air compressors, as required by The Occupational Safety and Health Act.
In May 1972 the company was one of fourteen manufacturers (most were large publicly traded corporations) of this type of valve. By 1991 there was only one other manufacturer. While developing the market for their OSHA Valve, they began to acquire surplus air compressor parts and components. After several years of developing the market for air compressor parts and the OSHA Valve, they purchased the assets of Taylor Smith Machine Company, a tool and die operation in Phoenix, AZ. At that location they developed manufacturing facilities for the production of OSHA Valves and air compressor parts for the customers they had developed from the company's purchase of surplus parts. The company profitably spun off Taylor Smith, to devote our efforts to the manufacture of proprietary parts and OSHAValves. In 1984, Compressed Air Parts made an agreement with Ingersoll-Rand Company to trademark their OSHA Safety Check Valves for their application, while not restricting the marketing of the same. In 1989, Compressed Air Parts purchased the assets of the compressor division of Jaeger Machine Company of Columbus, OH (formerly traded on the New York Stock Exchange). In 1991 they assumed servicing customers of Jaeger machine of St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada with available compressor parts, which included toll-free telephone service in Canada. That company was controlled by Salomon Brothers, New York. In 1991, they incorporated Vehicular Accessories Corporation in Cleveland, OH to develop accessories for pickup and cargo trucks. Currently, the business consists of the domestic and international marketing of air compressor components and parts and OSHA Safety Check Valves. Vehicular Accessories Corporation was spun off to devote our efforts to the development of new air compressor products. In November 2005, Compressed Air Parts Company was liquidated and the new company formed under its original name, OSHA Valves, LLC.
In March 2008 the OSHA Valve and the company name was sold to an investor group in Pittsburgh PA. The OSHA Valve operation can be contacted through calling 800-528-4023.
